May poem

May
I remember Merry Mays
though now those days seem dim
The pain of time has touched my all
a chance of none has slimmed
I’m not marching anymore
I sit and wait it seems
Only my mind goes on and on
while I still have my dreams
I know we’re not to question why
but I still want to know
why do some go lightly through
and other lives drag slow?
Is it because the way we’ve lived
are we to pay on earth?
Are we not as good as others who
enjoy exemplary health
I think I’ve lived quite honestly
I’ve loved and might once more
but through it all I’ve never lied
don’t change behind closed doors
Through many years and living long
I’ve watched friends come and go
I’ve learned much and tried to touch
the hearts and minds of those
who’ve sang the song of time with me
and marched through many Mays
who’ve been there when I needed them
and been the sunlights rays
And while the light is not so bright
because of many score
I know the cause for which I pause
is Peace forevermore

April poem

April
April, like life
is a mood full of swings
up and then down
sunny, then not
A minute can change what it means
The world awakens
from a long winters nap
it yawns and stretches and grins.
And just when the season
changed for good reason
I stood and walked again
A new blade of grass
a meadowlark
The sights and sounds of spring
No need to wonder
if there is a God?
There is a God!
And heaven is always green

July Haiku

Oh little sad tree
stretch your branches to the sun
you too can grow tall

lost in the shadows
but only for a short time
you'll soon reach the sun

Poem for June

Where did it go?

Where did it go
the month of June
Why did it go so fast?
Like life it seems it rushes by
to soon become the past

I love the world cause it is round.
That means it never ends
and that which passes one today
we may see again.

And even though it’s bittersweet
the memories abound
with sights of yesterday so clear
as well as joyous sounds

inside my mind I’m seeing you
the things you did and said
the joyful times you brought to me
are tumbling through my head
T’was not for naught
your pain and strife
twas not for naught at all
you taught us each
the meaning which
engrained upon my soul
the reasons we should cherrish
all. The love that we should share
forgiveness and compassion though
the cross was yours to bear

Where did it go
the month of June
Why did it go so fast?
Like life it seems it rushes by
to soon become the past

I love the world cause it is round.
That means it never ends
and that which passes one today
we may see again.

My March Poem

March

March is not marching
anymore
It's running and racing in
one door
and out the other to
nevermore
be at the front or in
the fore

Just like the blowing wind
it's gone
It seems so short, it seems
so long
But with the blinking of
an eye
You're left to wonder where
and why
Perchance you did what you
were meant
the years so long are quickly
spent
You're thinking how and where
it went
Was it a gift or only
lent

Is there still time to get
it right
while days pass quickly in
to night
We shall reap that which
we sow
Did I do it? I just
don't know.

A new haiku

Where are you going?
pathways have two directions
Are you coming home?

Februarys song.

Not too satisfied with this one, but it is what it is... can't seem to get the last verse right.

Februarys Song

Februarys almond blossoms
the telltale sign of spring.
Winters fading quickly now
and with its end it brings

Jonquils breaking through the earth
with gently falling rain
renewal shows its just washed face
and hope is born again.

He rose. He rose. Believers say
and church bells freely ring.
Voices blend in harmony
but I can’t hear them sing.

My mind is filled with listening
to yesterdays now gone
how comforting the melody
of Februarys song

Ok I've decided on a picture

This should be challenging ....even this blog is proving to be challenging.. doesn't seem to be working right tonight.. don't want the text to be centered but evidently it wants to be right square in the middle and no matter how many times I click on align left... it goes right back to the middle. Phooey and darn. Oh well, it's late tonight and I am tired.. but tomorrow I will tackle this picture and I will write a poem to it. Have to.  Need to get my muse back.

What do three pink roses
five silver keys
one fat cat
and
a sock monkey
have in common?

This is what I have to figure out.. try to make some sense or nonsense out of this silly picture.

A fat gray cat
seems nonchalant
but I know he sees
and is waiting
for
just one move
from the organ grinders kid
and on him he will pounce
as if to say
the roses are the key
they're placed here just for me

Ugggg  can't get any inspiration from this picture..  just going to forget it for now and concentrate on something new.. J

February Poem

Each month we are to write a poem for the next month.. I'm behind a month but that's ok. I am just getting back to writing after more than three years. It's hard getting back, just think I used to write every day, even if it were a line or two, but now I am having difficulty even thinking of what to write. Once before I just couldn't think of a topic and so I started writing to a picture. Maybe I'll do that again. Good idea I think. J
A haiku is 17 syllables.. 5, 7, 5

the sun is shinning
but baby it's cold outside
not going out there

So comes the gray skies
the long cold days of winter
freezing my body

Ah, there's the sunset
over where the grass is green
way beyond the bridge

It's January isn't it?

Time to not look back
damn damn the lack
of my ability
gone are the days when
but I promised not to think
of then

Now its January
nothing you can say now
about how
I'll get over it
gone are the days when
but I promised not to think
of then

Now it's January
